Name: Ruby
Breed: Cockerpoo
Age: 10 Months Old
Reason for Hydrotherapy
Hip Dysplasia
Ruby started to attend our hydrotherapy centre in November 2017 as she was suffering from bilateral hip dysplasia.
On Ruby’s first session we conducted a thorough health check and took muscle mass measurements from all four limbs. The results were as follows: RF- 29cm, RH- 33cm, LF- 29cm and LH- 33cm.
Ruby took to the hydrotherapy pool really well and was very confident. To start with the extension in Ruby’s hind limbs was moderate and her right hind was quite flexed at times with abduction in her left hind limb. As Ruby has progressed her left hind has become much straighter in the pool and she extends her right hind much more. Her right hind is still more flexed than her left hind, but we are working to correct this by gently stimulating her to kick her right hind with our hand to encourage better extension.
We remeasured Ruby’s muscle mass on 31st December 2017, the results are as follows: RF- 30cm, RH- 36cm, LF- 30cm and LH- 36cm. Ruby has gained 1cm on both forelimbs and 3cm on both her hind limbs.
Her owners are extremely pleased with Ruby’s progress and reports that she is able to go on longer walks now with no limping. Ruby continues to attend the centre on a weekly basis.
…coming soon.
